Material Suggestion for A1 and A2 learners.

Updated: Jul 26

Teaching materials are one of the most significant tools for education. Course books, blackboards, computers and the internet can also be considered as teaching material. When it comes to language teaching, coursebooks are the most common materials to be used by teachers. As a former English teacher, I never had an issue finding material for my classroom as English is a widely spoken and taught language. However, searching for material for the Turkish language is like looking for a needle in a haystack as the area has recently become popular. There are some course books that have been published by the university's TÖMER institutions and Yunus Emre Enstitüsü. However, most of them are a copy-paste of the well-known Oxford and Cambridge coursebooks. Alper Karazeybek, who has been teaching Turkish and writing Turkish stories for foreigners, has published a book for A1 and A2 learners in the name of "Welcome To Turkey". The book looked very professional at first glance. Later on, I had the chance to review the book to see the content quality. The book has a really clear language and included very common phrases that are used by native Turkish people. The book also provides an activity chapter, dictionary, and recordings for every story in the book. The book can be used as a self-study source and as a classroom source by the teachers.
